1. Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple

Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple

Srisailam is the abode of Lord Shiva & the temple is known to be one of the 12 Jyotirlingas and also one of the 18 Sakti Peethas (Bhramaramba Temple situated in the same complex).


This temple is located atop a mountain Shri Shaila & on the banks of river Krishna.


Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple was built in Dravidian style with high operas on all sides of the temple. The sanctum is a shell-like structure that enshrines Lord Mallikarjuna. The small black linga has a hooded golden cover. The garbha griha is small and only priests are allowed inside.


2. Srisailam Dam

Srisailam dam is built on the River Krishna on the border of Mahbubnagar & is around 15kms away from the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple.


It is one of the largest dams in India and the 3rd largest hydroelectric project in India.


The dam was constructed in a deep gorge in Nallamala hills, 300 meters above sea level. The dam is 512 meters long, 240.79 meters (885 ft) high and has 12 radial crest gates. The dam has a live storage of 274 TMC and provides irrigation water for about 200,000 acres of land in Kurnool and Cuddapah Districts


All the gates of the dam are open in Monsoon giving it the beautiful view along with nature around.


3. Pathala Ganga Srisailam

Pathala Ganga is the sacred waters of Krishna where pilgrims can take a dip in the holy river.

Located around 1 km from the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple a must-see.

From this place, you can get a glimpse of the wide reservoir and the magnificent mountains spread with the lush green Nallamala Forest.

Boating & Ropeway recreational activities are available near Pathala Ganga for families


4. Akka Mahadevi Caves

Akka Mahadevi Caves have naturally formed caves above Krishna River in the Nallamalla forest.

Situated around 10 km from Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple the best way to reach these caves is through the motorboat from Pathala Ganga.

Named after Akka Mahadevi who offered penance to the Shiva linga which is naturally formed at the end of the cave, these are narrow caves which have little light & very less oxygen towards the end of the cave.


5. Bairluty Jungle Camp

Nallamala Jungle Camp at Bairluty is a community-based eco-tourism initiative which was started in 2017, situated around 97 km from Srisailam.

Spreads over an area of 10 acres, Nallamala Jungle Camp has four semi-permanent cottages, six semi-permanent tented accommodation cottages, reception, a library and dormitory.

Programmes like: Jungle safari, Trekking, Bird watching and Tribal Archery are available for the tourists at this camp
